1. New Initiative IRSST-CRIPA

Theme 1: Prevention and control of infectious diseases at the animal-worker interface

Theme 2: Impact of sustainable production on worker health and safety

Deadline for submission is May 1 of each year.

2. New Initiative FPOQ - CRIPA (eggs producers of Québec)

Theme 1: Avian Influenza

Theme 2: Mycoplasma Synoviae

Theme 3: Pathogens present in the environment of layers, especially in free-range facilities

Theme 4: Importance of washing and disinfection to reduce the risk of disease spreading to the replacement herd

Deadline for submisson is May 1 of each year.

Duration 12 months, non renewable, report required 18 months after the first payment.

4. New Initiative EPQ - CRIPA

Theme: Guide on research priorities in the swine sector - Horizon 2024

Deadline for submission is January 31 of each year.

Duration 12 months, non-renewable, report required 18 months after the first payment.

AIMS OF THE PROGRAM

To build up the research program structure by facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations among the various laboratories associated with the Centre.

 

To initiate projects with ''high scientific risk'', involving innovative research, implementing novel concepts and testing novel hypotheses, likely to generate preliminary results and which will provide bases for submitting joint grant applications of the ''team research project'' type to the FRQNT.

FRQ Policy on Open Access 

New initiative's funding holders make any peer-reviewed publication that presents the results of their research available in open access no later than 12 months after it is published. (in accordance with the FRQ policy)

Project descriptions

All focuses will be funded, which will have in common the embodiment of a holistic approach to the study of swine and poultry infectious disease. 

Focus 1 | Basic research 

Focus 2 | Applied research

Focus 3 | Partnership portfolio

Granting

Use of funds: there is a maximum of 18 months to spend the funds, no further delay allowed. Unused funds will be transferred by CRIPA to another researcher. Exception: in the last year, the fund, must be spent in less than one year. 

A principal investigator rewarded will be excluded for a period of one year as lead applicant (from the next competition).

Grant NI of the CRIPA includes

  • From $20,000 to $25,000 depending on availability of funds;

  • Cover uninterrupted 12 months period;

  • No renewal;

  • Privileged access to Centre infrastructures.

Liability of the awardees

  • A report detailing the project findings shall be due 18 months from the date on which the grant is awarded;

  • Support granted by the CRIPA-FRQNT must be cited in the ''acknowledgements'' section of any publication, conference, poster, etc. of findings of work benefiting from this funding;

  • 12 months after publication, the article must be available in open access.
