An innovative project in food safety and sustainable animal production obtains support from the ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie of Quebec

Saint-Hyacinthe, December 9, 2024 – The ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie of Quebec (MRIF) has granted support to the project “Strengthening food safety and sustainable animal production through innovations in research and artificial intelligence”, presented by Ms. Mariela Segura, Professor at the Université de Montréal and Director of the Swine and Poultry Infectious Diseases Research Center (CRIPA), in collaboration with Ms. Natàlia Majó-Masferrer, Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Director of the Animal Health Research Center (CReSA) of the Institute for Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA) in Catalonia.

This international project led by CRIPA was selected as part of the 12th call for projects Quebec-Catalonia 2024-2026. The MRIF grant will help address global challenges related to food safety and sustainability in animal production through collaborative research and artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to consolidate the collaboration between two research centers of excellence: CRIPA in Quebec and CReSA in Catalonia, while promoting the bilateral exchange of researchers, networking and training of the next generation of scientists and qualified personnel.

In addition, the financial support of EVAH Corp., a Quebec company, and its corporate branch in Catalonia, EVAH Europe, will help maximize the impact of the project. This partnership will promote the mobilization of scientific knowledge and its valorization with industry and end-users, thus strengthening the link between research and practical application.

Here are the experts who will lead workshops and conferences to build new collaborations:
